Police are appealing for witnesses following the rape of a 19-year-old woman in Newcastle in the early hours of Friday, August 14.
The woman had been out in Newcastle with friends but left Liquid Envy Club on New Bridge Street in Newcastle at 3am on Friday, August 14 and became separated from her friends. She got into the rear of a three door silver Citroen Saxo car which was near the front of the club which had two men in it who she did not know.
They drove off passed Market Street towards Grainger Street where the men met another vehicle, also silver in colour but make not known. Two other men from this second vehicle got into the back seat with her.
The two vehicles then drove off together and stopped at an unknown location, believed to be somewhere in Newcastle. The woman was then subjected to being raped by three of these men.
We have descriptions of the offenders:
First man, white, aged 20-25 years, muscled body, with short fair hair
Second man, white, early 20s, tanned, thin build
Third man, stocky build, with very short hair/ skin head.
After the attack the woman was driven to the Denton Burn area of Newcastle and got out of the car. Then police were alerted. The victim is upset and distressed by the attack.
DC Andy Smith, Byker CID said:”We are appealing for help from the public to identify the men responsible for this rape. In particular we are appealing for other people who were outside Liquid Envy Club on New Bridge Street in Newcastle at 3am on Friday to contact us, as they may have information and may remember seeing the car or the men.
“Attacks of this nature involving a number of men are rare, but we do want to remind women to take personal safety advice and not to get into a vehicle with a man you don’t know. Police advise women to plan ahead and make sure you have a taxi booked in advance, to take you safely home.
“Anyone with information is asked to contact Newcastle CID on 03456 043 043 ext 62226 or ring the independent charity Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.”
