Sainsbury’s will open the doors to a new store in Spilsby on Wednesday 9th September 2009. The building was acquired from Somerfield earlier this year and 49 new jobs have been created alongside the 51 colleagues who will be transferring from Somerfield. The 9,000 square foot store has a bakery, an ATM and four self-scan checkouts for customers with only a few items.
Long-serving colleague Stephen Shaw will perform red carpet duties and cut the ribbon to officially open the new supermarket at 8.45am. Stephen is a familiar face in Spilsby, having spent more than 25 years working in store. Stephen said: “I’m delighted to be asked to open the new store and that my time as a colleague has been recognised like this. I can’t wait to start working with the new team at Sainsbury’s!”
Store manager Lee Musson said: “We’re proud of our new store but the best part of opening is getting to know the local community. It’s been great meeting new people and we’re looking forward to making a positive difference here. We’ve already started this process by working with the Butterfly Hospice Trust to help raise funds for a children’s cancer ward in Boston. I’m sure that there must be plenty more worthy causes that we can support and we’d really like to know how we can help.”
Doors will open at 9.00am and the first customer in store will be presented with a bouquet of flowers by Lee Musson.
