The work will be carried out over two weeks with overnight working for one week between 8pm and 6am and daylight hours working during week two. While work is taking place there will be single lane closures on the southbound carriageway of the A12 and a 50 mph speed restriction. There will be single lane traffic at Pound Lane Link Road during daytime working hours and a full closure of Pound Lane South (U4206) while the overnight working is taking place. There will also be alternating lane closures on the northbound carriageway of the A12 for one night only around the A12/Pound Lane North junction. During the closure of Pound Lane South traffic will be diverted off the A12 at Capel St Mary interchange (J32A), via Bentley Road, Pound Lane Link Road and onto Old London Road. A12 ESSEX DRAINAGE IMPROVEMENT WORK AT INGATESTONE Water drainage improvements on the A12 northbound at Fryening Lane overbridge between Junction 13 (Trueloves Interchange) and Junction 14 (Furze Hill Interchange) will start at 8pm on Monday 21 February for four nights. The work will be carried out overnight between 8pm and 6am. The work involves installing new drainage channels to improve water flow from under the bridge alongside the A12 to link to existing drainage nearby. While the work is taking place there will be a single lane closure past the works area for approximately one mile.A47 PETERBOROUGH EXCAVATION WORK Work will start on Monday 21 February for two days between 9.30am to 3.30pm to dig trial holes in the verges on the A47/A15 interchange between the off and onslip roads. The work will be carried out during day and nighttime hours, with lane closures overnight only at works locations. The work is expected to be completed by mid March. ONGOING WORK M1 MILTON KEYNES PARAPET REPLACEMENTWork to replace existing parapets on three bridges over the M1 between junctions 13 and 15 near Milton Keynes started on Monday 24 January. The work will be carried out 24 hours a day on Brogborough Interchange (junction 13), Aspley Guise Footpath bridge and Portsfields Farm Access Bridge. There will be lane closures on the M1 at various times with a 50 mph speed limit in place. There will be a single lane closure and a 40 mph speed restriction on the A421 northbound at the Brogborough Interchange – traffic travelling northbound who wish to access the M1 southbound carriageway or the C94 Bedford Road (old A421) will be subject to a diversion via the new A421. Traffic travelling in the southbound direction from Bedford will not be affected. The work is due to be completed by early summer. M1 J10 TO J13 BEDFORDSHIRE – HARD SHOULDER RUNNING SCHEMEThe entry and exit sliproads at junction 11 on the northbound carriageway will be closed overnight from Monday 21 February through to Friday 25 February. A contraflow is in operation on the M1 between Junctions 12 and 13. During peak hours three lanes will remain open in both directions. A contraflow remains in operation from north of Junction 11 to Junction 10, diverting a lane of southbound traffic onto the northbound carriageway. Traffic on the northbound carriageway is using the hard shoulder as an additional lane. This allows for three lanes of traffic in each direction during the day whilst work takes place. This will continue until July 2011. There are currently hard shoulder closures between Junctions 11 and 12, with a speed restriction of 50 mph. This 50mph speed restriction is now in place 24 hours a day between Junctions 10 and 13. The enforced 50mph speed limit is there for the safety of the travelling public and the workforce on site. This traffic management is in place for the work on the Hard Shoulder Running scheme to reduce congestion and improve safety on the 15 mile stretch of the M1 in Bedfordshire. Motorists are advised to allow extra time for their journeys whilst the road works are taking place.M11 ESSEX RESURFACING WORK BETWEEN HARLOW AND BISHOPS STORTFORDResurfacing work on the M11 southbound between Bishops Stortford (junction 8) and Harlow (junction 7) started on Wednesday 16 February. There will be single lane closures past the works area, but hard shoulder running will be required for one night only. Some sliproad closures will be necessary with clearly signed diversion routes in place via junction 8A. A1 BEDFORDSHIRE LIGHTING IMPROVEMENT SCHEME A scheme to replace street lighting on both carriageways of the A1 between the Black Cat roundabout and Sandy began in December. There will also be improved facilities for pedestrians and cyclists at the junction. The work is being carried out between the hours of 7am and 7pm Mondays to Saturdays, with no traffic management in place on the northbound carriageway between 7am and 9am on weekday mornings.
