Patrick Swayze’s timeless ”Nobody puts Baby in the corner” quote in Dirty Dancing was yesterday (Wed) voted the Cheesiest Movie Live Ever.
Hollywood legend Swayze, who last week lost his battle with pancreatic cancer, delivered the line to co-star Jennifer Grey in the 1987 feel-good musical.
It beat ”Is it still raining?I hadn’t noticed” – uttered to Hugh Grant by Andie MacDowell Four Weddings and a Funeral – to claim top spot.
Leonardo DiCaprio’s ”I’m the king of the world” line in Titanic was third.
Another Swayze line – from the 1990 classic Ghost – also made the top ten.
The poll was carried out among 4,000 movie fans by internet market research company www.OnePoll.com.
Yesterday a spokesman said: ”Nobody puts Baby in the corner is one of the most famous movie lines of all time and you immediately think of Dirty Dancing when you hear it.
”Women swoon as soon as they hear the line and dream of someone saying it to them, although men don’t seem to have the same reaction.
”The scene is one of the most iconic movie moments and that line makes all the difference.”
Other lines to make the top five include ”Son, your ego is writing cheques your body can’t cash” from Top Gun and ”They may take our lives, but they will never take our freedom” from Braveheart.
Also featuring in the top ten were lines from Notting Hill, OnePoll and The Postman.
