Fish stolen in South Tyneside

Police are appealing for information after a quantity of fish and shellfish were stolen from a cold store in South Tyneside. The incident is thought to have happened overnight between Tuesday, March 10 and Wednesday, March 11. It is believed the offender/s forced entry to the cold store, at Latimers Garage, on Whitburn Bents Road, Whitburn, before making off with a large quantity of fish. The fish stolen included: bass; tuna; lemon sole; plaice; cod fillets; crabs; scallops and king crab meat. Anyone who witnessed or has any information on the incident is asked to contact police on 03456 043 043 or the independent charity Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111. Anyone who is offered such items for sale is also asked to contact police immediately.
