57 jobs at new Sainsbury’s Newton Stewart store

by | Aug 5, 2009 | Sainsbury

Sainsbury’s will open the doors to a new store in Newton Stewart on Wednesday 5th August 2009. The building was acquired from Somerfield in May 2009 and 57 new jobs have been created following the major refurbishment. The 7,500 square foot store has a bakery, an ATM and four self-scan checkouts for customers with only a few items.
Local pageant Queen, Megan Hughes, will perform red carpet duties and cut the ribbon to officially open the new supermarket at 9am. Megan was crowned Queen of Galloway during the pageant ceremony in Dashwood Square, in June this year.
Store manager Steven Pollock said: “We’re proud of our new store but the best part of opening is getting to know the local community. It’s been great meeting new people and we’re looking forward to making a positive difference here. We’ve already started this process by joining in the recent Newton Stewart pageant, which was the perfect time for us to meet some of our new customers and see the town in action.”
Doors will open at 9.00am and the first customer in store will be presented with a bouquet of flowers by Steven Pollock.
