Northumbria Police has received a number of calls following an emotional appeal by the parents of murdered graduates Xi Zhou and Zhen Xing Yang yesterday. Sanbao Zhou, the father of Xi Zhou, travelled from the family home in Hunan Province in the South of China and Shu Zhen Qu, and the mother of Zhen Xing Yang, travelled from Dalian City in the North East of China at the weekend to make their appeal to the public yesterday, in the hope that someone will provide a vital piece of information that will help catch the killers. The bodies of the young couple, both aged 25, were found shortly after 4.30pm, on Saturday, August 9, at the flat they shared at 8 Croydon Road in Newcastle. Northumbria Police Detective Superintendent Steve Wade, leading the investigation, said: "Following an appeal by the parents of Xi Zhou and Zhen Xing Yang for help catching the killers of their children we have received a number of calls from the public. Officers are now examining these messages to see if they hold any valuable information. "Having met the families and witnessed their grief, myself and colleagues are determined to catch those responsible for this double murder. Someone must know the identities of the killers and I would ask anyone with information to contact myself or any of my colleagues. "I appreciate someone may be scared to pass on this information but they have my assurances that information supplied can be passed on in the strictest of confidence, if need be anonymously."
Anyone with information about the murders or the two victims, should contact Northumbria Police, on 08456 043043 or 03456 043 043. Alternatively you can contact Crimestoppers anonymously, on 0800 555111, or call Northumbria Police's Mandarin and Cantonese message service, on 0191 221 8200. Northumbria Police has also set up a stand alone email address where people can leave messages in their chosen language, the address is northumbriapolice@ymail.com
