Detectives investigating the murder of Andrew Smart, 47, from North Shields have released several people on police bail.
Five males who were arrested yesterday, Tuesday, March 16, on suspicion of murder have now been released on police bail pending further enquiries. They are all from North Shields, two are aged 18, and the others aged 19, and 20, and one youth aged 16.
A 21-year-old North Shields man has been arrested this morning, Wednesday, March 17, on suspicion of murder and is still helping police with their enquiries.
Previously, three male youths aged 13,14 and 15 years were arrested in connection with this investigation and bailed pending further enquiries.
