Statement on Competition Commission proposals for regluation of supermarket industry.

Waitrose fully supports the Competition Commission's proposals for regulation of the supermarket industry. We are committed to fair and honest relationships with our suppliers. However we believe regulation will be most effectively managed by the Office of Fair Trading as opposed to the establishment of an independent Ombudsman. Waitrose will constructively engage with the Competition Commission on this remedy with the aim of ensuring the best outcome for suppliers and supermarkets.
