ICE MAIDEN
Frozen food giant Iceland is to make a lucky customer the new face of the brand after Coleen Nolan stepped down, it was announced yesterday (Fri).
Loose Women star Coleen became the firm's figurehead after troubled Kerry Katona was fired last year.
Iceland was forced to re-shoot its Christmas adverts after the former Atomic Kitten singer was pictured using the drug in a Sunday newspaper.
Now bosses want a 'down to earth' customer to take over and are to carry out X Factor-style auditions with Coleen joining the judging panel.
Customers are being asked to apply for the 'New Face' competition, with live auditions beginning around the UK at the end of March.
Yesterday (Fri) Iceland's marketing director Nick Canning said: ''Coleen Nolan is a hard act to follow so after long, hard consideration, we've decided not to try and replace her.
''Instead we're turning the spotlight on our customers to give them a chance.
''At Iceland, our customers are very important to us, especially mums, and we know they have a great deal of affection for our brand.
''Just like Coleen, we're looking for a new face who loves Iceland and is the perfect blend of personality and charm.
''We want someone who is enthusiastic about Iceland and is literally bursting for the chance to tell everyone else about it.''
The final five will be selected by a judging panel led by Coleen and watched over by the Iceland CEO Malcolm Walker.
Then it will be down to Iceland customers and the public to pick the eventual winner, casting their votes online, with the New Face announced in April.
Coleen said: ''I'm delighted that Iceland have asked me to be part of the judging panel for their New Face competition.
''I've loved my time working with them and I'm looking forward to helping them find a face for the future that can represent their brand.''
