Four arrested after car stolen

Police have arrested four people after a car was stolen in Newcastle.
It happened at around 7.30pm on Tuesday July 21, when offenders went into a house at Cherryburn Gardens, Newcastle and stole a wallet and car keys.
They then made off in the homeowner's car, a Toyota Corolla. At just before 2am on Wednesday July 22, a report was received of a suspicious vehicle in Hexham, Northumberland. Police attended and the stolen Corolla was recovered.
Four Newcastle youths were subsequently arrested on suspicion of theft.
A 17-year-old boy has been charged with theft of a motor vehicle, theft from a motor vehicle, driving while disqualified and no insurance. A 15-year-old boy has been charged with theft of a motor vehicle and theft from a motor vehicle.
A 15-year-old girl has been charged with being carried in a motor vehicle taken without consent, while a 16-year-old girl, arrested for being carried in a motor vehicle taken without consent, is awaiting a youth surgery.
The arrests come as part of the forcewide 'Let's draw a line under crime' campaign, aimed at keeping thieves at bay during the economic downturn.
