A traffic management summary for both new and ongoing workThe information provided in this report is correct as of the above date but could be subject to change due to weather conditions or unforeseen circumstances.A20 Roundhill ViaductTemporary restrictions remain in place on the A20 near Folkestone while arrangements are made to replace components on the Roundhill viaduct. Two lanes are open on the coastbound carriageway, one of these a narrow lane for vehicles no wider than 6 feet six inches. One lane remains open on the Londonbound carriageway. A 30mph speed restriction is in place in both directions. A26 Quarry HillAn 18-tonne weight restriction is in place on the northbound A26 Quarry Hill Viaduct. The viaduct passes over the A21 and heads into Tonbridge from Tunbridge Wells in Kent.The restriction is a precautionary measure after routine inspections of the bridge identified that strengthening work may be needed in the future. The weight restriction will protect the integrity of the bridge while this is investigated further.All vehicles over 18 tonnes will be required to follow a short diversion via the A21 northbound to Morleys Interchange, where they will be directed to return on the southbound carriageway and enter Tonbridge using the southbound exit slip road at Vauxhall Lane Interchange. Bus operators and emergency services vehicles are still able to use the route. A21 Embankment RepairWork is being carried out this week to strengthen an embankment on the A21 near Tonbridge in Kent. There are no restrictions on the A21, but parking has been suspended on sections of two local roads near Hildenborough – the B2027 and Lower Street.A27 Bay Tree Lane Embankment Repair WorkWork to stabilise the embankment behind the A27 at Bay Tree Lane in Polegate, East Sussex, started on Monday 3 October for eight weeks. Work will be carried out between 7.30am and 5.30pm each day, with a 24 hour closure of a 370 metre section of Bay Tree Lane next to the embankment from Monday to Saturday. One lane will open each Sunday to facilitate access to local events.At all other times, a short diversion route will be in place via the A22 between Cophall roundabout and the A295 roundabout. Access to Cophall Farm will be maintained throughout the work.A21 Road Marking and Road Stud workWork to replace road markings and road studs is being carried out this week on the A21 in Kent and into East Sussex. Work between Hastings and the Scotney Castle Roundabout started on Monday 17 October and will continue until Friday 11 November, moving to other sections in future weeks. Ongoing work to resurface the A21 between Cuckoo Lane and Perch Lane in Kent will be completed this Tuesday (8 November).The work will be carried out on one carriageway at a time with lane closures in place and temporary traffic lights in operation to allow traffic to pass the work site in convoy. At junctions there will be three or four way temporary traffic lights in operation to allow access to and from side roads.All work will be carried out between 8pm and 6am, and all restrictions will be lifted outside working hours.A20 Roundhill Tunnel maintenanceMaintenance of the Roundhill Tunnel will take place overnight between 8pm and 6am from Monday 07 to Thursday 10 November.The tunnel will be closed overnight in a westbound direction on the first two nights, and in the eastbound direction on the last two nights. For all closures traffic will be diverted via the A259 and A260.A23 Pease Pottage to Bolney – overnight closuresThe A23 will be closed in both directions between Pease Pottage and Bolney for 18 nights from Monday 7 November 2011.This is part of the A23 Handcross to Warninglid improvement scheme, and is to allow for environmental work to be carried out, before main civil engineering work begins. The closures will be from 8pm to 6am, although the flow will be monitored each night and start times could be changed accordingly.They will take place six nights a week, excluding Friday nights and, weather permitting, should be completed by 27 November. All restrictions will be removed outside working hours.Clearly signed diversions will be in place during the closures. Through traffic will be diverted in both directions between the M23 junction 11 and A23/A272 junction at Bolney, via the A264, the A24 Horsham bypass and the A272.Access to local villages next to the A23 will be maintained and signed.M20 Junction 13 coastbound entry slip road ResurfacingWork to resurface the M20 coastbound junction 13 entry slip road will take place on Friday 11 and Saturday 12 between 8pm and 6am. During this time the slip road will be closed and road users will follow a fully signed diversion route via the A259 and A260.A23 Pyecombe Replacement and Reflector StickersOvernight (8pm to 6am) on Monday 07 and Tuesday 08 November work will take place to replace a ‘bend ahead’ sign on the southbound carriageway of the A27 at Pyecombe and to install amber coloured reflectors on the safety barrier in the northbound central reservation.There will be a southbound lane one closure and northbound lane two closure at the work site.A259 New Winchelsea RoadThere will be temporary traffic lights on the A259 New Winchelsea Road in Rye between 9.30am and 3.30pm on Monday 07 November while electrical work takes place on a sign.M20 Junctions 3 to 10 ResurfacingSmall sections of the M20 between junctions 3 and 10 in the Maidstone/Ashford Kent area will be resurfaced and, where necessary, road markings repainted, and road studs and/or traffic loops replaced. All work will take place overnight between 8pm and 6am. Further details are below:* M20 Junctions 8 and 7 Londonbound Small sections of the M20 Londonbound between junctions 8 and 7 will be resurfaced on: Tuesday 08 and Wednesday 09 November, Friday 18 November, Thursday 24 and Friday 25 November, Friday 02 December, Monday 05 December, Thursday 08 December.There will be lane closures and at times lanes one, two and three will be closed with traffic using the hard shoulder.* Junction 10 coastbound Thursday 10 November until Sunday 13 NovemberThe M20 junction 10 coastbound entry slip road will be closed. Road users wishing to join the M20 will be diverted onto the A20 to its junction with the B2068 where they will join the coastbound M20 at junction 11. There will also be lane one or two closures on the coastbound carriageway between junctions 10 and 11 with a 50mph speed limit in place.At times it will be necessary to close all lanes, and road users will use the hard shoulder with a 50mph speed limit in place.* Junction 10 Londonbound Work to resurface sections of the Londonbound carriageway will take place between Tuesday 08 November and Friday 11 November. Lanes one and two will be closed while the work takes place. Road users will use the hard shoulder and lane three; a 50mph speed limit will be in place. M2 Junction 7 ResurfacingWork to remove the existing road studs, resurface the carriageway and replace the road markings and road studs will take place on the M2 Londonbound entry slip road overnight (between 8pm and 6am) on Thursday 10, Friday 11 and Monday 14 November.The Londonbound entry slip road will be closed while the work takes place. Road users wishing to enter the M2 Londonbound carriageway at junction 7 will be diverted on to the A2 towards Faversham, the A251 Ashford Road, to rejoin the M2 at junction 6.While the work is taking place there will also be lane closures on the roundabout and Londonbound M2 carriageway.Ends
