There will be a further southbound overnight closure on Monday 7 February at the same times then a northbound carriageway closure overnight on Tuesday 8 February. The closures will be between Thickthorn junction (A11/A47) and Wymondham with a clearly signed diversion route in place via the B1172. The scheme involves closing the central reserve gaps, widening the southbound carriageway of the A11 and amending the Station Lane east junction. There will also be improved facilities for pedestrians and cyclists at the junction. The work is being carried out between the hours of 7am and 7pm Mondays to Saturdays, with no traffic management in place on the northbound carriageway between 7am and 9am on weekday mornings. Lane 2 closures are in place on the southbound carriageway 24 hours while work takes place. Completion is expected by end February, weather permitting. A14 CAMBRIDGESHIRE SURVEY WORKWork to survey the drainage system along the whole length of the A14 started on Monday 1 November. The final stage of the survey work is set to start on Wednesday 2 February between Brampton Hut (junction 21) and Spittals Interchange (junction 23), weather permitting. The survey work will take place overnight between 8pm and 6am, Mondays to Fridays, with lane closures as necessary. A14 NEWMARKET MAINTENANCE WORKWork will begin on Monday 31 January to construct a gated crossover in the central reserve barrier on the A14 between junctions 35 and 36 near Newmarket. The work will be carried out overnight between 8pm and 6am Monday to Friday, for five nights. There will be lane 3 closures only while the work is taking place. A120 ESSEX EMERGENCY RESURFACING WORK NEAR BRADWELL Work to resurface 500 metres of the westbound carriageway of the A120 near Bradwell and a small patch on the eastbound carriageway will take place overnight for one night on Monday 31 January between the hours of 8pm and 6am. Temporary traffic signals will be in place to halt traffic either side of the works area and one lane at a time will be convoyed past the works area at slow speed.ONGOING WORK M1 MILTON KEYNES PARAPET REPLACEMENTWork to replace existing parapets on three bridges over the M1 between junctions 13 and 15 near Milton Keynes started on Monday 24 January. The work will be carried out 24 hours a day on Brogborough Interchange (junction 13), Aspley Guise Footpath bridge and Portsfields Farm Access Bridge. There will be lane closures on the M1 at various times with a 50 mph speed limit in place. There will be a single lane closure and a 40 mph speed restriction on the A421 northbound at the Brogborough Interchange – traffic travelling northbound who wish to access the M1 southbound carriageway or the C94 Bedford Road (old A421) will be subject to a diversion via the new A421. Traffic travelling in the southbound direction from Bedford will not be affected. The work is due to be completed by early summer. M1 J10 TO J13 BEDFORDSHIRE – HARD SHOULDER RUNNING SCHEMEThere will be overnight sliproad closures at junctions 11 and 13 during the week beginning Monday 31 January as follows:Monday 31 January: junction 11, northbound exit sliproad; junction 13 northbound exit and entry sliproads; junction 13 southbound ‘up and over’ (traffic diverted off at the junction and then back on, leaving the carriageway underneath clear of traffic)Tuesday 1 – Friday 4 February: junction 11, northbound exit sliproad; junction 13 northbound and southbound ‘up and over’.A contraflow is in operation on the M1 between Junctions 12 and 13. During peak hours three lanes will remain open in both directions. A contraflow remains in operation from north of Junction 11 to Junction 10, diverting a lane of southbound traffic onto the northbound carriageway. Traffic on the northbound carriageway is using the hard shoulder as an additional lane. This allows for three lanes of traffic in each direction during the day whilst work takes place. This will continue until July 2011. There are currently hard shoulder closures between Junctions 11 and 12, with a speed restriction of 50 mph. This 50mph speed restriction is now in place 24 hours a day between Junctions 10 and 13. The enforced 50mph speed limit is there for the safety of the travelling public and the workforce on site. This traffic management is in place for the work on the Hard Shoulder Running scheme to reduce congestion and improve safety on the 15 mile stretch of the M1 in Bedfordshire. Motorists are advised to allow extra time for their journeys whilst the road works are taking place. As part of the scheme, the Highways Agency will also upgrade junctions 11 (Dunstable) and 12 (Toddington).A1 BEDFORDSHIRE LIGHTING IMPROVEMENT SCHEME A scheme to replace street lighting on both carriageways of the A1 between the Black Cat roundabout and Sandy began on Monday 6 December. Some work will be carried out overnight, weather permitting, between 10pm and 6am, with lane closures controlled by temporary traffic lights and a speed limit of 10mph in place through the works area. A ‘puffin’ crossing uses sensors to detect people on the crossing which then adjust the red traffic signal accordingly. A12 LOWESTOFT JUBILEE WAY PEDESTRIAN CROSSING UPGRADEA scheme to upgrade an existing pedestrian crossing on the A12 over Jubilee Way near Albany Road in Lowestoft started on Monday 24 January. Work will take place on the road at night (between 8pm and 6am) as required, and on the pavements during daytime hours (Mondays 9.30am to 5pm, 8am to 5pm Tuesday to Thursday and Friday 8am to 3.30pm).
