Police are appealing for witnesses following a collision between a bus and a cyclist in Heaton.
The incident happened at 3.20pm on Tuesday, November 9, at the roundabout between Newton Road, Jesmond Park West and Freeman Road.
The 66-year-old cyclist was taken to Newcastle General Hospital with a suspected head injury. His condition is described as critical but stable.
Newton Road was closed southbound for two hours.
A 59-year-old man has been arrested in connection with the incident.
Police are appealing for anyone who was on the number 38 bus travelling towards the Freeman Hospital when it was involved in the collision, or anyone who witnessed the collision to get in touch with North Shields motor patrols on 03456 043 043 ext 63848 or ext 69191.
