Police are appealing for witnesses after metal thieves targeted two houses in the same Newcastle street. The incidents both happened at around 2.10am on Friday December 17 in Abbeyvale Drive, Walker. At both properties lead flashing was removed from front bay windows. Police are appealing for anyone who was in the area at the time, or noticed anything suspcious to contact them. PC Phil Hoggins said: "I would ask anyone who was in the vicinity of the old railway lines behind this street the following day to contact us. "They may have valuable information as it is possible that the offenders may have hidden the stolen metal somewhere along the lines." Anyone with information is asked to contact police on 03456 043043 or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555111.
