M60 - closure of the clockwise access slip clockwise at junction 23 (Droylsden) 18 – 19 JulyM56 - closure of the westbound link to Manchester airport at junction 5 – 18 –19 JulyM602 - closure of the westbound link to the M60 clockwise ONGOING SCHEMESM56 A56 A556Overnight slip road closures remain in place at the Bowdon island roundabout linking the A56 and A556 with the M56 in Cheshire as a scheme to resurface the carriageway around the roundabout continues. The work, which is due to be completed on July 23, will also include closures of the sliproad off the westbound M56 and the sliproad onto the Eastbound carriageway of the motorway towards Manchester during the weekends.There will also be occasional overnight closures of the A56 Lymm Road between the B5159 at Broomedge and the roundabout. Fully signed diversion will be in place.M60 junctions 1 -2 StockportThere will be various weekend lane closures on the clockwise carriageway of the M60 between junctions 1 and 2 near Stockport while work to repair a bridge over the River Mersey gets underway just North of Cheadle Heath. These closures will be in place each weekend from Friday June 24 until late July or early August depending on the weather.The closures will kick in from 10pm on Friday nights and will be lifted on 5am the following Monday. Drivers are advised to use alternative routes, as short delays are expected. A 50mph speed limit will be in place for the duration of the works.M60 Junctions 19-23There will be various lane closures on the clockwise and anti clockwise carriageways of the M60 between junction 23 (Ashton under Lyne) and junction 19 (Middleton) while work to repair the road surface continues. A 40 mph speed limit will be in place for the duration of the works, with average speed cameras in operation.M53Junction 1 Wallasey (bridge repairs) – various lane closures in both directions at Bidston Moss Viaduct for bridge repairs. Work continues until the end of March 2012. During the current phase of works, which will start on 15 July and last around four weeks, there will be a full closure of the northbound M53 link onto the A5139 Docks Link Road and a full closure of the northbound carriageway of the A5139 Docks Link Road to the Poulton Bridge Road roundabout.Motorists have to be especially careful to exit the M53 at junction one unless they intend to travel into the Kingsway tunnel.WORK OFF THE HIGHWAYS AGENCY NETWORK WHICH MAY AFFECT CUSTOMERS ON HIGHWAYS AGENCY ROADS M53 (Cheshire Oaks)There will be off peak lane closures at junction ten while work to improve the entranceway into Cheshire Oaks takes place. Work is expected to continue until the Summer. In the event of queues, motorists trying to access Cheshire Oaks are advised to exit the M56 at junction 14 and use the A5117.A55 J36a, Saighton Army Camp – near Huntington in CheshireImprovement works to the roundabout ahead of a new housing development mean that various lanes will be closed during off peak periods between now and October. Once completed, the works will provide an additional lane on the exit sliproad.WORK BEING UNDERTAKEN BY OTHER AGENCIES WHICH MAY AFFECT HIGHWAYS AGENCY CUSTOMERSThere will be various road closures in parts of Bootle, including Park Lane West, Dunnings Bridge Road, Copy Lane and Netherton Way while work to renew 2km of gas mains takes place between now and November.National Grid has worked with the Highways Agency to reduce their impact on motorists. On Dunningsbridge Road, two lanes in each direction will remain open during the day with further lane restrictions only being put in place at night and during weekends. Work will also be suspended during major events such as football matches. Schemes in Cumbria and North LancashireONGOING SCHEMESWORK BEING UNDERTAKEN BY OUTSIDE ORGANISATIONS WHICH MAY AFFECT HIGHWAYS AGENCY CUSTOMERSA66 Kemplay Bank roundabout – South of Penrith town centre Improvement works as part of a new Sainsbury’s development mean that a 40mph speed limit will be imposed from Tuesday 31 May for the duration of the scheme, which is scheduled to finish at the end of November. Two lanes will be maintained on the A66 during the daytime but the roundabout will be reduced to one lane overnight between 8pm and 6am. Three adjacent lay-bys on the A66 will also be closed.
