Log on for online meeting

Northumbria Police

11 July 2011

Residents in Newcastle are being reminded to get online for a new series of virtual meetings.
Neighbourhood Policing Teams from across the city have been hosting online meetings where people can find out about policing in their area.
Residents can pop on at any time during the web chat to leave a comment, ask questions and raise issues about crime and disorder in their neighbourhood, getting almost instant answers to their queries from their local Neighbourhood Inspector.
The next meeting takes place on Wednesday, July 13, between 7pm and 9pm for those living in the city centre. Temporary Inspector Dave Balmer will be online to speak to local residents about policing in their area.
The meetings are a chance for local people to find out about crime and disorder and get to know their local neighbourhood team from the comfort of their own home.
Insp Balmer said: "This is not only an opportunity for residents to get online and ask questions about the area they live, but it's also an opportunity for those people who work, shop or socialise here to find out more about the policing of the city centre.
"This is the first meeting for the city centre this year and a previous one we held last year was very successful. I'd urge as many people as possible to log on and get involved in the meeting.
"We recognise that it's not easy for people to attend local meetings so online meetings are an ideal opportunity to raise issues and ask questions from the comfort of their own home. It's also great for us to be able to find out about what matters most to people using and living in the city centre."
