Attempted robbery on schoolgirl

Police are appealing for information after an attempted robbery in Gateshead.
Between 3.45pm and 4.15pm on Friday, September 23, an 11-year-old girl was walking home from school through a subway on Keelmans Way, Dunston, when she was approached by two young men who tried to steal personal items including her purse.
The girl screamed and the pair ran off empty handed. Although she was was left shaken by the attack, she was not injured.
One of the men is described as white, around 18-years-of age, and was wearing dark grey tracksuit bottoms with luminous green and orange stripes down the thigh.
The second was also described as white, around 18-years-of age and was wearing black Reebok tracksuit bottoms with white stripes down the legs.
Detectives investigating believe other people were in the area at the time and are urging them to come forward with information.
