NEW SCHEMESM65 Junctions 2 – 3, Pippin Stret to Marsh Lane (Chorley)Surfacing and barrier work is taking place on the eastbound carriageway of the M65 between Junctions 2 and 3. On Tuesday 4 and Wednesday 5 October the eastbound main carriageway will be closed to traffic. At these times there will be a clearly signed diversion route in operation via the M65 westbound, A6 northbound and A657 eastbound.ONGOING SCHEMES M53 Junctions 4 – 9 (Wirral)There are four miles of roadworks running from south of Junction 4 at Bebington to just beyond Junction 9 at Ellesmere Port. There will be a 50mph speed limit on all lanes while essential bridge repairs are carried out on the Eastham Viaduct at Junction 5 and safety works including a new barrier are taking place between Junctions 8 and 9 at Ellesmere Port. The work requires occasional lane closures and periods of contraflow. Alternate overnight carriageway closures will be in place for short periods during the middle and end of the scheme for the installation and removal of traffic management, and the slip roads onto the southbound carriageway at Junction 8 and onto the northbound carriageway at Junction 9 will also be closed until mid-October. Clearly signed diversions will be in place at all times. Work on the bridge is due to end on Tuesday 9 November, and work between Junctions 8 and 9 is due for completion by Thursday 15 December.M65 Junctions 7 and 8 (Accrington)There will be some lane closures between Junctions 7 and 8 of the M65 for resurfacing schemes. All work will take place overnight from 7pm to 7am and at least one lane will remain open in each direction at all times, but short delays are expected. The work is expected to last for around six weeks, and started on 12 September.M56 and M53 (Stoak Interchange)There will be occasional lane closures overnight and at weekends around Junction 15 of the M56 and Junction 11 of the M53 at Stoak while work to repair bridges and resurface the carriageway takes place. 50mph speed limits will be in force and fully signed diversions will be in place.M60 Junctions 19 – 23 (Middleton to Ashton-under-Lyne)There will be various lane closures on the clockwise and anti-clockwise carriageways of the M60 between Junction 23 (Ashton-under-Lyne) and Junction 19 (Middleton) while work to repair the road surface continues. A 40mph speed limit will be in place for the duration of the work, with average speed cameras in operation. Clearly signed diversions are always in place.M53 Junction 1 (Wallasey)There will be various lane closures in both directions at Bidston Moss Viaduct for bridge repairs. Work continues until the end of March 2012. During the current phase of work, there will be a full closure of the Southbound exit slip from the A5139 Docks Link Road to the M53 Junction 1 roundabout, and overnight closures of the Docks Links Road from the Poulton Bridge Road roundabout to the A5139 Southbound exit slip road. A diversion will take drivers via Gorsey Lane, Dock Road, A5088 Wallasey Bridge Road, the A553 Hoylake Road and the A554 to the M53 Junction 1.A55, J36a (Saighton Army Camp – near Huntington in Cheshire)Improvement work to the roundabout ahead of a new housing development mean that various lanes will be closed during off peak periods until the end of October. Once completed, the work will provide an additional lane on the exit slip road.A590 Fiddlers Hall (Cumbria)A short section of the Westbound lane of the A590 near Fiddlers Hall, will be closed between Newby Bridge and High Newton for the second phase of a drainage scheme. Work will take place between 9.30am and 3.30pm each day, and again from 8pm to 6am the following morning. Manually operated traffic lights will guide people past the roadworks and a 40mph speed limit will be in place.A66 Kemplay Bank roundabout (South of Penrith town centre)Improvement work as part of a new Sainsbury’s development means that a 40mph speed limit has been imposed for the duration of the scheme, which is scheduled to finish at the end of November. Two lanes are being maintained on the A66 during the daytime but the roundabout is reduced to one lane overnight between 8pm and 6am. Three adjacent lay-bys on the A66 are also closed.ROADWORKS OFF THE HIGHWAYS AGENCY NETWORK WHICH MAY AFFECT HIGHWAYS AGENCY CUSTOMERSA666 Blackburn Road / Junction 4, M65 (Blackburn and Darwen)Roadworks are being carried out on the A666, between Moss Fold Road and Hawkshaw Avenue.
