19 October 2011

Work on the westbound carriageway will take place between 24 October and 28 October. Work on the eastbound carriageway will be completed between 27 October and 29 October. We will carry out all the work between 8pm and 6am.Between 24 and 28 October the A14 will be closed westbound between junction 51 and junction 50. During the first phase of the work, October 24 and October 25, westbound traffic will be diverted using the interchange slip roads to rejoin the A14 beyond the works. During the second phase of the work, October 26 and 27, traffic will be diverted on to the A140, then A1120 to rejoin the A14 at junction 50.Between 27 October and 29 October the A14 eastbound will be closed at junction 51 Beacon Hill Interchange. A14 traffic will be escorted at slow speed around the works in a convoy system via the interchange slip roads. All diversions will be clearly signed. A temporary 50mph speed limit will be in place on the approach to the junctions throughout all the works.Ranjit Mistry, Highways Agency project sponsor, said: “We have coordinated these essential maintenance works to the east and westbound carriageways.to minimise disruption, The works are being done overnight when traffic flows are lightest. but we advise road users to allow extra time for their journeys.”
