A man has been arrested after an assault in Newcastle.
At 4.50am today, Tuesday, November 8, police received information from the ambulance service reporting a man aged 33 with a head injury at an address at Gillies Street in Byker.
The man had been hit over the head with an unknown object, causing a laceration to his head. He is currently at hospital and is expected to be discharged following treatment.
Police investigating have arrested a 36-year-old man on suspicion of assault and he is currently in custody. Both men involved are known to each other and it's not thought the incident was random.
