Update to man injured in Oxclose incident
Police are treating an incident in which a 48-year old man in Oxclose suffered head injuries, as an attempted robbery.
The attack happened on the evening of Friday, November 18, at the Oxclose Convenience Store, Oxclose Village Centre, Washington.
It is believed two or more men entered the store in an attempted robbery and attacked the member of staff.  It is believed the offenders left empty handed. The injured man managed to make his way home and police were called.
The injured man is detained in a local hospital with serious head injuries, which are not believed to be life threatening.
Officers are investigating the attack and are appealing for anyone who was in the area near the shop between 7pm and 10pm on Friday, November 18, and who may have seen or hear anything suspicious to contact police.
