Human Planet Live will take audiences on a journey that explores our planet and the awe-inspiring relationship between human beings and nature, presenting a stunning portrait of how humankind and nature exist together in symbiosis. The live show has been designed to create an unforgettable family experience, as well as appeal to fans of great orchestral music.
The Human Planet Orchestra will perform new arrangements of music from the series, conducted by Nitin Sawhney himself. Human Planet Live will tour the UK in March and April 2012 and tickets for the tour will be available from September 9th.
The BAFTA-winning BBC Human Planet series took three years to produce and was filmed in over 70 locations around the world. Shot in high definition and featuring an original score from Sawhney, Human Planet explores man's survival in the most extreme environments. Each episode of the eight-part series focuses on one environment and how the people and tribes who live there adapt to their surroundings: oceans, deserts, arctic, jungles, mountains, grasslands, rivers and cities.
Nitin Sawhney commented: "Scoring the BBC's Human Planet series was perhaps both my greatest privilege and greatest challenge. Despite that challenge, the breathtaking scenes of human co-existence with nature and determined resilience provided an inspiration beyond the boundaries of any musical soundtrack. The series itself is a true celebration of human diversity and deeply resonates with everything I believe in. I look forward very much to bringing the visuals and music to the live stage and extending the scope of this wonderful series with the Human Planet Orchestra in partnership with BBC Worldwide."
Philip Murphy, Managing Director of BBC Worldwide's Live Events business said, "Given Nitin's tremendous score for Human Planet and his ability as a musical performer in his own right it is a natural extension of the series to create a live event. We're very excited to be working with him, Live Nation and X-Ray Touring to bring the series to life this way."
