Witnesses are being asked to come forward following a sexual assault on a teenage girl.
The incident happened at 11.15pm, on Melville Grove, Newcastle, on Friday, October 30. The 16-year-old victim was walking with friends when she was approached by the offender and sexually assaulted.
The victim fought off the offender and fled the scene.
Officers are currently carrying out extensive enquiries, however, at this stage this is not believed to be a stranger attack.
Police are appealing for any witnesses or anyone with information on the incident to contact them.
A 15-year-old boy has been arrested in connection with the incident and is currently being interviewed by police.
Detective Constable Mick Scott, from Newcastle CID, said: "We have made an arrest in connection with this incident, however, we are appealing for any witnesses to come forward to police.
"They may have vital information which could assist with our enquiries."
