A FATHER and son drug dealing duo have been jailed for a total of more than 15 years.
David Charlton, 29, of Haggerstone Mews, Winlaton and George Charlton, 54, of Coltsfoot Gardens, were arrested in June following a series of raids by the Northumbria Police Total Policing Task Force.
Officers recovered hundreds of thousands of pounds worth of drugs and luxury items from a house in Coltsfoot Gardens and business premises at Reay Street, Bill Quay and Heworth Way, Pelaw.
Police seized two kilos of cocaine with an estimated potential street value of more than £300,000, and seven ounces of amphetamine sulphate worth £1,800.
Officers also recovered around £60,000 cash, an air rifle and a range of luxury goods including Rolex watches and a plasma television.
Detective Superintendent Peter Farrell of the Total Policing Task Force said: "The supply of illegal drugs is a menace to our communities which is closely linked to organised crime.
"These sentences reflect the harm drug dealers cause in our neighbourhoods and should send a clear message that Northumbria is a hostile environment where their illegal activities will not be tolerated.
"Money is the driving force for criminals and we will use any means at our disposal to seize drugs and cash and take the cash out of crime."
David Edward Charlton, 29, of Haggerstone Mews, Winlaton has been sentenced to eight years for conspiracy to supply cocaine and five years for possession with intent to supply amphetamine, both sentences to run concurrently.
George James Charlton, 54, of Coltsfoot Gardens, Felling, has been sentenced to seven and a half years for conspiracy to supply cocaine.
