Cyclist injured in Northumberland

Police are appealing for witnesses after a cyclist sustained serious head injuries after falling from his bike during a cycle race in Northumberland.
At around 1.50pm on Saturday, April 3, the 37-year old man was travelling south on the B6342 near to the Rothley Lake View Lodge, Rothley, when for reasons yet to be established, he fell from his bike.
As a result of the fall the man suffered serious head injuries and was airlifted by paramedics in an RAF Boulmer helicopter to Newcastle General Hospital for treatment. His current condition is described as being critical but stable.
