MARKS & SPENCER ANNOUNCES THE APPOINTMENT OF NEW INTERNATIONAL DIRECTOR

In line with plans announced last November to grow its International business, Marks and Spencer plc today announces the appointment of Jan Heere as its new Director of International.
Jan is joining Marks & Spencer from Inditex, where he is currently General Manager, Russia. He will report directly into Marks & Spencer's CEO, Marc Bolland, as a member of the company's Management Committee.
With an extensive international background gained over ten years in retail, Jan brings a wealth of experience to the position. Jan has worked for Inditex in a number of international roles, most recently in Russia where in the last five years he has grown Inditex's presence from some 20 stores to more than 170 stores employing around 4,500 people.
Marc Bolland, Marks & Spencer Chief Executive said: “We're delighted to announce that Jan Heere is joining Marks & Spencer as Director of International. Jan's impressive international experience fits well with the international growth plans we outlined in November.”
Jan Heere said: “International retail is a real opportunity for Marks & Spencer. I am very pleased to be joining at such an exciting time and look forward to getting started.”
