Highways Agency to improve safety on the A14 near Kettering

Work, which will take place on the eastbound carriageway, will start on Tuesday 9th August and is due to finish on Wednesday 17th August. Work will take place overnight to minimise disruption to road users.The renewals will take place in two stages, with roadworks only affecting the specific sections being worked on:Stage one, between junctions 7 and 10 - Tuesday 9th to Saturday 13th AugustThe signed diversion will take traffic off the A14 at junction 7 onto the A43 north until it joins the A6116 at Stanion. It will then follow the A6116 and rejoin the A14 at junction 12. Overnight closures will be in place at these times:* Tuesday to Thursday nights; 9pm to 6am* Friday night; 9pm to 8amStage two, between junctions 10 and 13 - Saturday 13th to Wednesday 17th AugustSigned diversion will run via the A6 southbound at junction 10 to Higham Ferrars, onto the A45 which will carry traffic back to the A14 at junction 13. Overnight closures will be in place at these times:* Sunday to Thursday nights; 9pm to 6am* Friday night; 9pm to 8am* Saturday night; 8pm to 9amIn addition a diversion will be in place throughout for HGVs and abnormal loads which will take them off at the M1 junction 19 southbound to junction 15 where it joins the A45 to Thrapston where they can rejoin the A14.Highways Agency project manager, Mark Braithwaite said: “This scheme is to renew road markings and studs along a 13 mile stretch of the A14 in Northamptonshire, which will improve the safety of the carriageway for road users.
