M5 Motorway - Junction 9 Highways Agency works on the M5 junction 9 will require the following temporary measures to be put in place:* a temporary mandatory 50 miles per hour speed restriction on the southbound entry slip road at M5 Junction 9* the closure overnight of the slip road * restriction of vehicles over 3.3 metres in width to the nearside or left hand lane of the slip road.There will also be lane closures and hard shoulder running through the works. These measures would be in the interests of road safety while contractors carry out planing and resurfacing works. It is expected that the works would start on or after 24 October 2011 and be completed by 23 December 2011. A303 Trunk RoadTo sets of works are planned by the Highways Agency for the A303 Trunk Road in November.Cartgate Roundabout to Podimore Roundabout, Near YeovilIn order to enable contractors to carry out structures inspection, graffiti removal and carriageway maintenance works the overnight closures of:* the A303 Trunk Road near Yeovil from the northeastern edge of the A3088 Cartgate Roundabout to the south western edge of the A37 Podimore Roundabout * and the eastbound and westbound entry and exit slip roads at the A37 Ilchester Mead Junction will be required. Hazelgrove Roundabout to Podimore Roundabout, SomersetIn order to enable contractors to safely carry out works including surveying and maintenance, the Highways Agency also needs to close overnight the A303 Trunk Road between the A359 Hazelgrove roundabout and the A37 Podimore roundabout.. It is expected that both sets of works would start on or after 7 November 2011 and take no more than 5 nights to complete. M4 Motorway - Junction 22 Works on the M4 at junction 22 will require the overnight closure of:* the westbound carriageway of the M4 between the exit and entry slip roads at Junction 22* the westbound entry slip road at M4 Junction 22* the eastbound carriageway of the M4 between the exit and entry slip roads at Junction 22* the eastbound exit slip road at M4 Junction 22. These measures would be in the interests of road safety while contractors carry out the replacement of traffic loops for a weigh-in-motion system. It is expected that the works would take place on the M4 westbound between 7 and 8 November 2011 and on the M4 eastbound between 11 and 12 April 2012. A36 Trunk Road (Alderbury, Near Salisbury)Works on the A36 Trunk Road near Alderbury, Salisbury will require the closure of the northbound carriageway of the A36 from the entry slip road at Whaddon Junction to the exit slip road at Clarendon Junction. It is expected that the works would start on or after 28 October 2011 and take no more than one night to complete. A303 Stockton WoodsEssential carriageway maintenance between Chicklade and Wylye is due to start on 26 September and is expected to take 6 weeks to complete. Work will include resurfacing approximately 3.5km of eastbound and westbound A303, road markings, safety barrier replacement, kerbing replacement, drainage renewal and the installation of new signs. The majority of the work will be carried out overnight from Monday to Friday. However, if necessary, and where activities allow, we will also work overnight at weekends. To enable work to be undertaken safely, the A303 will be closed and the following advisory diversion route will be in place for through-traffic: Westbound traffic will be diverted from the A303 at Wylye to join the A36. It will then take the A350 south to re-join the A303 west at Furze Hedge.Eastbound traffic will be diverted from the A303 at Furze Hedge and onto the A350. Traffic will then take the A36 southbound to re-join the A303 east at Wylye. A419 Trunk Road (Seven Bridges West, Near Swindon)Bridge parapet works on the A419 Trunk Road near Swindon will require:* a temporary mandatory 50 miles per hour speed restriction on the northbound carriageway of the A419 from a point 85 metres north of the centre point of the access to Widhill Farm to a point 125 metres north of the centre point of the Thamesdown Recycling access road;* the closure of the layby adjacent to the northbound carriageway of the A419 situated 488 metres north of the centre of Widhill Farm access road.There would also be lane closures through the works. It is expected that the works would start on 10 October 2011 and be completed by 31 December 2011. A35 just east of HonitonSouth West Water is carrying out works on the A35 just east of Honiton. They will be working using 24hr traffic lights from 16 Sept to 9 October 2011. They will not be working during the Americas Cup weekends. Delays are expected on the route at peak times.M4 Motorway - Junction 19 Westbound Exit Slip RoadWorks on the M4 Motorway at Junction 19 in South Gloucestershire will require the overnight closure of the westbound exit slip road at M4 Junction 19. This measure would be in the interests of road safety while contractors carry out the replacement of expansion joints for Whiteshill West Bridge and Hambrook Viaduct. It is expected that the works would take no more than 10 nights to complete between 12 October 2011 and 3 April 2012. M4 Motorway - Junctions 15-16 Highways Agency works on the M4 Motorway between Junctions 15 and 16 in Swindon will require the overnight closure on Saturday night and Sunday night of:* both carriageways of the M4 between Junctions 15 and 16;* the westbound entry slip road at M4 Junction 15; and* the eastbound entry slip road at M4 Junction 16. This measure would be in the interests of road safety while contractors carry out the removal of electricity cables. It is expected that the works would start on 15 October 2011 and be completed by 17 October 2011. M5 Junction 29Lane closures remain in place on the A30, M5 northbound off-slip and southbound off-slip at Junction 29 as work continues to upgrade the junction.Some lane restrictions are being removed or partially removed during the morning and evening rush hours to minimise delays as much as possible.The right turn from A30 westbound to M5 North also remains closed. Traffic is being diverted via Moor Lane Roundabout, back onto the eastbound carriageway of the A30 to continue northbound on the M5. Routes for cyclists and pedestrians are being maintained through the scheme, with some minor diversions.M5 J25 Roundabout Resurfacing WorksFrom 12 September to 16 October 2011 a major works scheme will be undertaken by Somerset County Council to replace worn out road and resurface the roundabout under junction 25 of the M5. These works will be completed in phases including closures over five weekends. Some work will be ongoing during the week but these will not include closures.The main carriageway of the M5 should not be affected by these works, however there will be slip road closures.The slip road closures will be as follows:* 17 September 19.00hrs - 19 September 07.00hrs southbound entry north bound exit slips* 24 September 19.00hrs - 26 September 07.00hrs southbound entry and northbound exit slips* 1 October 19.00hrs - 3 October 07.00hrs southbound exit and northbound entry slips* 8 October 19.00hrs - 10 October 07.00hrs southbound exit and northbound entry slips* 15 October19.00hrs - 17 October 07.00hrs southbound entry slip.The M5 Motorway-Junctions 11a-12 Painswick OverbridgeA lane three closure and a 50mph speed restriction is required on the M5 in each direction in the vicinity of Painswick Road bridge. Overnight the carriageway will be reduced to one lane in each direction. This is to enable essential maintenance to the central reserve and resurfacing works in lane 3. These will be completed by October 21. For additional safety while work is taking place overhead, temporary signals will be in use on the B4073 Painswick Road when required. These will be manually controlled at peak times to minimise delays.M5 Motorway - Junctions 11a-12 Works on the M5 Motorway between Junctions 11A and 12 will require a temporary mandatory 50 miles per hour speed restriction overnight on:* the northbound carriageway of the M5 Motorway from the tip of the nosing of the northbound entry slip road at Junction 12 to a point at the centre of The Ash Path Overbridge (south of Junction 11A); * the southbound carriageway of the M5 Motorway from the tip of the nosing of the southbound entry slip road at Junction 11A to a point at the centre of Naas Lane Overbridge (north of Junction 12).There would also be lane closures and hard shoulder running through the works.These measures would be in the interests of road safety while contractors remove chevron vehicle spacing road markings. It is expected that the works would take no more than 4 weeks to complete between 10 October 2011 and 30 November 2011. M5 Motorway - Junction 11aHighways Agency works on the M5 Motorway at Junction 11A will require the overnight closure of:* both carriageways of the M5 at Junction 11A from a point adjacent to the tip of the nosing of the northbound exit slip road to a point adjacent to the tip of the nosing of the southbound exit slip road * the northbound entry slip road at M5 Junction 11A* the southbound entry slip road at M5 Junction 11A.This measure would be in the interests of road safety while contractors carry out the replacement of bridge deck expansion joints. It is expected that the works would take no more than 10 nights to complete between 10 October 2011 and 1 April 2012. M5 Motorway (Junctions 14-15) Between 10 and 14 October, works on the M5 between junctions 14 and 15 will require the overnight closure of:* the southbound carriageway of the M5 between Junctions 14 and 15 from the tip of the nosing of the southbound exit slip road at Junction 14 to the tip of the nosing of the southbound exit slip road at Junction 15* the southbound entry slip road at M5 Junction 14. These measures would be in the interests of road safety while contractors carry out gantry inspections. The overnight carriageway closure, slip road closure and diversion route would be clearly indicated by traffic signs throughout the works period and would only apply when traffic management measures are in place. M5 Motorway - Junctions 14-13 Michael Wood Services Works on the M5 Motorway at Michael Wood Services between Junctions 14 and 13 will require the overnight closure of: * the northbound entry slip road at Michael Wood Services; or* the southbound entry slip road at Michael Wood Services.These measures would be in the interests of road safety while contractors carry out signage replacement, lighting column removal and verge re-grading works. It is expected that the works would take no more than 15 nights to complete between 10 October 2011 and 29 October 2011. The closure of the northbound and southbound slip roads would take place on separate nights.A419 Trunk Road - Commonhead Roundabout, SwindonRepairs to a CCTV camera along the A419 Trunk Road in Swindon will require the overnight closure of the southbound carriageway of the A419 Trunk Road between the exit slip road and the entry slip road of the A4259 Commonhead Roundabout. It is expected that the works would take place between 10 October 2011 and 14 October 2011. During the overnight closures described above, traffic would be diverted to leave the A419 via the exit slip road at the A4259 Commonhead Roundabout and to re-join it via the entry slip road at the same roundabout. M4 Motorway - Junctions 17 - 18Highways Agency works on the M4 Motorway between Junctions 17 and 18 in Wiltshire will require a temporary mandatory 50 miles per hour speed limit to be put in place on the westbound carriageway and the hard shoulder of the M4 between Junctions 17 and 18 from the centre point of Littleton Drew Overbridge (the B4039) to the centre point of Acton Turnville Bridge.There would also be lane closures through the works.These measures would be in the interests of road safety while contractors carry out loop cutting works. The works would take place overnight and are expected to take one night to complete. The works will take place around 8 October 2011. A36 Trunk Road (Stapleford to South Newton, Salisbury)Overnight works on the A36 Trunk Road near Salisbury will require:* a 40 miles per hour temporary mandatory speed limit on the A36 Trunk Road between Stapleford and South Newton from the centre of its junction with the B3083 at Stapleford to the centre of its junction with St Andrews Road, South Newton* a 10 miles per hour temporary mandatory speed limit while convoy working is taking place on the same length of road as described above. These measures would be in the interests of road safety while contractors carry out resurfacing works. It is expected that the works would start on or after 10 October 2011 and be completed by 21 October 2011. A36 Trunk Road (Partridge Hill, Newton, Wiltshire)Resurfacing works on the A36 Trunk Road between Newton and Landford in Salisbury will require the following measures to be put in place:* a temporary mandatory 40 miles per hour speed limit on the A36 Trunk Road from the centre of its junction with Newton Lane, Newton to its junction with Stock Lane, Landford; * a 10 miles per hour speed limit while convoy working is taking place on the A36 Trunk Road over the same length as described at (a) above.There would also be lane closures through the works.These measures would be in the interests of road safety while contractors carry out resurfacing works and would take place overnight. It is expected that the works would start on or after 10 October 2011 and take 2 nights to complete. A36 Trunk Road (Churchill Way West, Salisbury)Highways Agency works on the A36 Trunk Road in Salisbury will require the overnight closure of the northbound exit slip road of the A36 Trunk Road at Churchill Way West. This measure will be in the interests of road safety to enable contractors to carry out works to replace expansion joints in the carriageway. It is expected that the works would start on Wednesday 12 October 2011 and be completed by 1 April 2012 and take no more than 10 nights to complete. A303 Trunk Road (Wincanton Interchange, Somerset)Works to replace bridge expansion joints on A303 Trunk Road at Wincanton will require an overnight 30 mph speed restriction on the westbound exit slip road and the west bound entry slip road of the A303 Trunk Road at Wincanton Interchange. It is expected that the works would take no more than 6 nights to complete between 12 October 2011 and 3 April 2012. M4 Motorway (Junctions 20-21) and M48 MotorwayWorks on the M4 Motorway and the M48 Motorway in South Gloucestershire will require a temporary mandatory 50 miles per hour speed restriction on:* the westbound carriageway of the M4 from a point at the centre of Trench Lane Overbridge to a point at the centre of Hardy Lane Overbridge; * the eastbound carriageway of the M4 from a point at the centre of Greenditch Street Overbridge to a point 700 metres west of the centre of the M4 / M5 Almondsbury interchange; and* the eastbound carriageway of the M48 from a point at the centre of Catherine Hill Overbridge to its junction with the M4. There would also be lane closures and hard shoulder running through the works. These measures would be in the interests of road safety to enable contractors to carry out drainage repairs. It is expected that the works would start on or after 10 October 2011 and be completed on 25 November 2011. M5 Motorway (Junction 18) To M49 MotorwayHighways Agency works on the M5 Motorway in Bristol will require: * a temporary mandatory 50 miles per hour speed restriction on:(i) the northbound dedicated lane to the M49 from the tip of the nosing of the northbound exit slip road at M5 Junction 18 to the tip of the nosing of the northbound exit slip road to the M49 at M5 Junction 18A(ii) the northbound exit slip road to the M49 at M5 Junction 18A from the tip of the nosing with the M5 northbound to the point where it merges with the M49 to continue as the M49 northbound carriageway; * the closure of the same lengths of the dedicated lane and northbound exit slip road at M5 Junction 18A as described at (a) above. There would also be lane closures and hard shoulder running through the works. These measures would be in the interests of road safety while contractors carry out the refurbishment of expansion joints and would apply overnight.It is expected that the works would take no more than 10 nights to complete between 12 October 2011 and 3 April 2012.M5 Motorway (Junction 16) Works to replace bridge expansion joints will require the overnight closure of the northbound carriageway of the M5 at Junction 16 from the tip of the nosing of the exit slip road to the tip of the nosing of the entry slip road. It is expected that the works would start on or after 10 October 2011 and be completed by 1 April 2012 with the overnight closures in place for no more than 10 nights within that period. Gantry inspections will also require the overnight closure of the northbound carriageway of the M5 at Junction 16 from the tip of the nosing of the exit slip road to the tip of the nosing of the entry slip road. These inspections are expected to begin on or after 10 October 2011 and be completed by 15 October 2011 with the overnight closures in place for no more than 4 nights within that period. A36 Trunk Road (Steeple Langford to Stapleford, Wiltshire)Highways Agency works on the A36 Trunk Road between Steeple Langford and Stapleford in Wiltshire will require:* a temporary mandatory 40 miles per hour speed limit on the A36 from its eastern junction with Salisbury Road at Steeple Langford to its junction with the B3083 at Stapleford* a 10 miles per hour speed limit while convoy working is taking place on the A303 Trunk Road over the same length as described above.There will also be lane closures through the works. These measures would be in the interests of road safety while contractors carry out resurfacing works and would take place overnight. It is expected that the works would take no more than 2 nights to complete between 3 October 2011 and 14 October 2011.M4 Motorway - Junctions 15-16 From 3 October, works on the M4 Motorway between Junctions 15 and 16 in Swindon and Wiltshire will require:* a temporary mandatory 50 miles per hour restriction on the westbound carriageway of the M4 Motorway between Junctions 15 and 16 from the tip of the nosing of the westbound entry slip road at Junction 15 to the centre point of Wroughton Overbridge (A4361).* the restriction of vehicles over 2.75 metres in width to the near side lane and middle lane of the M4 over the same length as described above.There will also be hard shoulder running through the works. These measures would be in the interests of road safety while contractors carry out piling works to Broom Manor Overbridge. It is expected that the works would be completed by 25 November 2011.A419 Trunk Road (A420 White Hart Junction, Swindon)Works on the A419 Trunk Road, Swindon will require the following measures to be put in place:1. A temporary mandatory 50 miles per hour speed limit on:* the northbound carriageway of the A419 Trunk Road at Swindon from a point 200 metres southeast of the centre of the Wanborough Road Underbridge to a point 175 metres northwest of the centre line of the A420 northbound overbridge at A420 White Hart Junction;* the southbound carriageway of the A419 Trunk Road at Swindon from a point 140 metres southeast of the tip of the nosing of the southbound exit slip road at the A361 Honda Junction to a point 200 metres southeast of the centre line of the A420 southbound overbridge at the A420 White Hart Junction.2. authorise the overnight closure (between 10.00 pm and 6.00 am) of: * the northbound carriageway of the A419 Trunk Road from the exit slip road at the A420 White Hart Junction to the northbound entry slip road at the A361 Rat Trap Roundabout Junction* the southbound carriageway of the A419 Trunk Road from the exit slip road at the A420 White Hart Junction to the entry slip road at the same junction* the northbound entry slip road at the A420 White Hart Junction* the northbound exit slip road at the A361 Rat Trap Roundabout Junction.There will also be lane closures through the works. It is expected that the works will start on or after 3 October 2011 and be completed by 2 December 2011.M4 Motorway - Junctions 16 & 17 Slip RoadsFrom 26 September, resurfacing works between the M4 junctions 16 and 17 will require the following overnight measures:* the closure of the eastbound and westbound entry and exit slip roads at M4 Junction 16; * the closure of the eastbound and westbound entry and exit slip roads at M4 Junction 17;* a temporary mandatory 50 miles per hour speed limit on the same slip roads described above.There will also be lane closures through the works. These measures will be in the interests of road safety while contractors carry out resurfacing of the junction roundabouts at M4 Junctions 16 and 17. It is expected that the works would take no more than 27 days to complete.A303 Trunk Road (Horton, Near Ilminster)Works will require the following measures to be put in place on the A303 Trunk Road near Horton from a point 100 metres west of its junction with Forest Mill Lane to a point 600 metres east of the centre of Whitney Hill underbridge. * a temporary mandatory 30 miles per hour speed limit * vehicles will be prohibited from overtaking other moving vehicles * restriction of vehicles over 3.3 metres in width to the nearside of the eastbound carriageway and the westbound carriageway * vehicles will be prohibited from turning right from the A303 into Broadway Hill, near Horton.These measures would be in the interests of road safety while contractors carry out embankment stabilisation works, carriageway reconstruction and vehicle restraint barrier works. The works will start on or after 12 September 2011 and be completed by 6 November 2011.M32 - junctions 2-3Works on M32 Motorway between Junctions 2 and 3 will require the overnight closure of:* the southbound exit and exit slip road at M32 Junction 2* the northbound exit and entry slip road at M32 Junction 2* the southbound exit slip road at M32 Junction 3* the northbound entry slip road at M32 Junction 3The slip roads will not all be closed at the same time. These measures would be in the interests of road safety while contractors carry out off peak routine bridge and carriageway maintenance works including drainage, surfacing, white lining, street lighting and debris clearing. The Order would come into force on 12 August 2011 and last for a year. However, the restrictions would only be in place when the routine maintenance works are necessary. The overnight slip road closures and diversion routes would be clearly indicated by traffic signs and would only apply when works are being carried out.M5 Motorway - junctions 18 & 18a slip roadsFrom 12 August works on the M5 Motorway at Junctions 18 and 18A will require a 50 miles per hour speed limit overnight on:* the southbound entry slip road at M5 Junction 18 (the 'S' loop) from the point where it diverges from the M49 southbound slip road to Avonmouth to the point where it merges with the M5 southbound; * the northbound entry slip road at M5 Junction 18A (the 'Z' loop) from the point where it diverges from the slip road to the M49 Motorway to the point where it merges with the M5 northbound.They will also require the overnight closure of the connecting road and southbound entry slip road at M5 Junction 18 (the 'X' loop and 'Y' loop) from the eastern edge of the A4 St Brendan's Roundabout, Avonmouth, to the tip of the nosing with the southbound carriageway of the M5. There will also be lane closures and hard shoulder running through the works.These measures would be in the interests of road safety while contractors carry out off peak routine maintenance works, including grass cutting, road sweeping and barrier repairs.The Order would come into force on 12 August 2011 and last for a year. However, the restrictions would only be in place when the routine maintenance works are necessary.A36 Trunk Road (Steeple Langford to Stapleford)Works on the A36 on 30 August will require a temporary mandatory 40 miles per hour speed limit on the A36 Trunk Road between Steeple Langford and Stapleford from a point 5600 metres east of the centre of the A36/A303 Wylye Junction to the centre of its junction with the B3083. This measure is in the interests of road safety while contractors carry out river stabilisation works. These works will start on 5 September and are expected to be completed by 4 November 2011. A4 Trunk Road and A46 Trunk Road (London Road Junction, Bath)From 27 May a Traffic Order will be in place to allow the overnight closure of * the A46 and A4 Trunk Roads southbound through the Bailbrook Underpass, Bath between the A46 exit slip road to the London Road Roundabout and the A4 entry slip road from the London Road Roundabout;* the northbound exit slip road at the A46 / A4 London Road Junction, Bath;* the southbound entry slip road at the A46 / A4 London Road Junction, Bath.These measures will be in the interests of road safety while contractors carry out off peak routine maintenance works, including road sweeping, barrier re-tensioning and general maintenance works. The overnight closures will only be in place when the routine maintenance works are necessary.A40 Trunk Road at Huntley Hill in the District of Forest of DeanWork on the A40 Trunk Road at Huntley Hill, west of Gloucester, will require a 40 miles per hour speed limit from a point 300 metres east of the centre of its junction with Hinders Lane to a point 300 metres west of the centre of its junction with Saunders Close. This measure would be in the interests of road safety until embankment stabilisation works and the installation of a permanent safety barrier can be carried out. It is expected that the speed limit would start on or after 21 April 2011 and last until the danger to the public has ended. M5 and M4 (Almondsbury Interchange Slip Roads)Works will see the overnight closure of the Almondsbury Interchange slip roads at Junction 15 of the M5 and Junction 20 of the M4. These measures would be in the interests of road safety while contractors carry out off peak routine maintenance works. The overnight slip road closures and diversion routes will be clearly indicated by traffic signs and would only apply when works are being carried out. The Order will come into force from March 30 and will last for a year, but will only apply when such works are necessary.A35 Weymouth Road Roundabout and A35 StinsfordRoadworks are due to start on 13 September 2010 at the Stadium Roundabout and on 20 September 2010 at Stinsford (Kingston Maurward) Roundabout. We plan to maintain two lanes onto the roundabouts at each entry at all times during the day (6am to 8pm) to minimise disruption to traffic. However temporary traffic signals will be required overnight at some times during the works. We will be providing more information as it becomes necessary and as there are significant changes.
