A man has been arrested after an assault in Newcastle city centre.
At 3.27am today, Wednesday, December 14, police received information that a man had been punched several times in an assault at Bath Lane, near the entrance to Stowell Street.
The victim, aged 29, was taken to hospital for treatment to a cut lip and a fractured jaw. Police arrested a 21-year-old man nearby on suspicion of assault and he is currently in custody helping with enquiries.
Any witnesses or anyone with information about the incident is asked to contact police on 101 ext 69191, or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
