Police are investigating an assault which happened at approximately 2.25am on Sunday, September 13, at Glitterball Nightclub, Ocean Road in South Shields.
A 22-year-old local woman was struck with a glass and was taken to South Tyneside Hospital where she was treated for facial injuries and later released home.
A 26-year-old local man has been arrested on suspicion of causing grievous bodily harm and is currently detained helping police with their enquiries.
Police are appealing for anyone who was in the nightclub at this time and witnessed the incident to contact South Shields CID on 03456 043 043 ext 65152 or ring the independent charity Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
