Police investigating a robbery at a Newcastle petrol station have released CCTV images of two men they need to speak to in connection with the crime.
At 2.55am on Saturday, November 6, police were called to the Esso garage - Saint James Park Service Station - on Barrack Road in Newcastle following reports of a robbery.
Two men forced entry to the front door of the petrol station, smashing the glass and demanded cash from the staff member. They left with a quantity of cash and some cigarettes. No one was injured, but the staff member, a man, was shocked by the incident. The offenders then made off from the premises.
The two men are both described as white men aged 18 to 20 years old, one around 5ft 9ins tall of slim build and the other around 5ft 7ins tall of proportionate build.
One of the men was wearing a black hooded jumper with a pink trim around the hood, and a pair of jeans with 96 written on the back, while the other wore a black hooded top with white piping on the back.
Detective Constable Shaun Fordy is investigating. He said: "The two suspects smashed their way into the service station and demanded money from the till. The staff member was left shocked and shaken by the experience.
"We've been carrying out extensive enquiries into this robbery but have yet to trace the suspects. We're now releasing images of two men who can help with our enquiries and would urge anyone who recognises them to get in touch as soon as possible. Any witnesses or anyone else with information about who is responsible should also contact us."
