Geordie girls were yesterday (Fri) named The Sexiest Women in Britain.
The Toon city - home to stunners such as Girls Aloud beauty Cheryl Cole and model Donna Air - came top in a poll of 2,578 blokes under the age of 30.
Stunning Cheryl did her hometown proud this week by showing off her curves in a revealing #4,000 Alexander McQueen dress.
Ladies from London - birthplace of Fearne Cotton and Leona Lewis - came second.
Bristol was third and Liverpool, home to Abbey Clancy, was fourth.
The unwanted title of Britain's Ugliest Women went to Birmingham, home to politician Claire Short, while Glasgow, birthplace of roly poly 2003 Pop Idol winner Michelle McManus, was second.
The steel city of Sheffield came third in the survey carried out by OnePoll.com.
A spokesman for OnePoll.com said yesterday (Fri): ''Newcastle was the clear winner. And if all the girls up there look like Cheryl you can see why.
''Cheryl is a stunning example of the Geordie woman. She is jaw-droppingly beautiful and has a warm-hearted personality to go with it.
''But the poll isn't good news for Birmingham i'm afraid.''
Newcastle has become a popular city for stag weekends in recent years. But the area has been badly hit by the economic downturn and the football club's relegation from the Premier League.
Cardiff took sixth place in the 'best looking' list followed by Nottingham, where the ratio of women to men is said to be around four to one.
The university city of Cambridge was eighth, followed by the other student hotspots of Leeds and Oxford.
Other cities to make the ugly list include the naval port of Portsmouth, the Scottish capital of Edinburgh and the east midlands enclave of Leicester.
A spokesman added: ''I was surprised the Scottish cities fared badly and the results weren't good for the south coast either.
''But Manchester did well. And that's not too much of a shock when you consider all the girls who flock round the city's footballers on a weekly basis.''
