Handbag snatch in city centre

Police are appealing for information after a robbery in Newcastle.
At around 3.20am on Saturday, April 2, an 18-year-old woman was walking on Stanhope Street, near to St James' Park, when she was approached by two men wearing masks and carrying wooden clubs.
An altercation took place and one of the men snatched the woman's bag before the two offenders fled the scene towards Stanhope Way.
The bag contained a red Ipod Nano MP3 player with blue headphones, a Samsung Tocco mobile phone with the battery cover missing and an amount of cash.
The victim was left shaken but unhurt.
The first offender is described as being in his early 20's, around 5ft 6ins tall and of slim build. He had a freckly complexion and spoke with a local accent. He was wearing a grey hooded top and grey pants
The second man is described as being in his early 20s, around 5ft 9ins tall and of slim build. He too spoke with a local accent and was wearing grey pants and a red hooded top.
Both were wearing white surgical style face masks covering their mouths and lower faces.
CID detectives are carrying out enquiries in the area and checking for CCTV footage. The local Neighbourhood Policing Team will be carrying out extra patrols in the area overnight.
