Police have arrested a man after a robbery at a Newcastle shop.
At 9.45am on Sunday, November 13, police received a report that a man had gone into Rye and Dry at Ferguson's Lane in Scotswood armed with a hammer.
He threatened staff and demanded cash and the offender made off with cigarettes. No-one was injured during the incident.
Officers carrying out enquiries into the robbery have arrested a 21-year-old man in connection with the incident. He has been bailed pending further enquiries. Local businesses in the area have been visited to provide reassurance.
