A26 Quarry HillAn 18-tonne weight restriction is in place on the northbound A26 Quarry Hill Viaduct. The viaduct passes over the A21 and heads into Tonbridge from Tunbridge Wells in Kent.The restriction is a precautionary measure after routine inspections of the bridge identified that strengthening work may be needed in the future. The weight restriction will protect the integrity of the bridge while this is investigated further.All vehicles over 18 tonnes will be required to follow a short diversion via the A21 northbound to Morleys Interchange, where they will be directed to return on the southbound carriageway and enter Tonbridge using the southbound exit slip road at Vauxhall Lane Interchange. Bus operators and emergency services vehicles are still able to use the route. A21 Embankment RepairWork is being carried out this week to strengthen an embankment on the A21 near Tonbridge in Kent. There are no restrictions on the A21, but parking has been suspended on sections of two local roads near Hildenborough – the B2027 and Lower Street.A2 Jubilee Way Gantry Replacement and ResurfacingWork to improve journeys on the A2 Jubilee Way near the port of Dover in Kent continues this week.The resurfacing element of the work continues this week. The work is scheduled to be complete in two weeks. During the day, there will be off-peak lane closures, with the road remaining open to traffic in both directions. Overnight, there will be temporary carriageway closures with fully signed diversion routes in place.During the closures, drivers travelling coastbound will be diverted at the Whitfield Roundabout to join the A256 towards Dover. They will then continue along the A256 to its junction with the A20 where they can turn left to continue with their journeys.Drivers heading for the Londonbound A2 will follow the same diversion route in the opposite direction.Work will also take place to resurface the A2/A258 Guston roundabout. There will be various restrictions on the roundabout. There will be lane closures, and at times access to and from the A258 onto and off the roundabout will be restricted.When the A258 (Deal) northern arm access is closed, road users wishing to access the A2 at Guston Roundabout will be directed to use the A258 northbound through Deal. They will then join the A256 southbound to join the A2. Road users wishing to access the A258 Deal from the A2 will be diverted at the A256.When the A258 (Dover) southern arm access is closed, road users wishing to access the A2 at Guston roundabout will be directed to use the A258 southbound to join the A256 Londonbound through Dover. They will the join the A2 at Whitfield Roundabout. Road users wishing to access the A258 south from the A2 use the above diversion route but in the opposite direction.Gantry work will be completed during a single overnight closure which will be scheduled after the resurfacing work.A259 Rye to Guldeford Resurfacing Part 1Work continues this week to resurface the A259 between Rye and Guldeford. Two-way traffic signals will be in place between 9.30am and 3.30pm each day. On Saturday 25 February a 400 metre section of the A259 between Camber Road to Guldeford Level Crossing will be closed for two weeks for the second part of the resurfacing to be completed. A23 Warninglid to Bolney Drainage ImprovementsDrainage improvement work will be carried out on the A23 between Warninglid and Bolney in West Sussex. The work will maintain safety, and alleviate existing flooding problems on this section of the A23.Work continues this week and is due to be complete by Wednesday 04 April. It will take place between 8pm to 6am, Monday to Friday nights only.Traffic management will be in place and will be signed appropriately to give advance notice about the location of work. There will be some overnight closures of entry/exit slip roads when the drainage work is being carried out. A diversion route will be fully signed diverting traffic to the next junction, to return on the opposite carriageway to use the opposite slip road.Work will also be carried out to replace the central reservation safety barrier; lane three of both carriageways will be closed 24 hours a day.Footways and lay-bys along the A23 will be closed while the work is taking place.A23 Hickstead Southbound ResurfacingA series of overnight resurfacing schemes on the A23 starts with work on the southbound carriageway at Hickstead.Work will start on Monday 20 February for four nights between 8pm and 6am. It is weather dependent and therefore subject to change.The southbound A23 carriageway will be closed each night. The closure will be from Hickstead Interchange, with a diversion route via the A2300 and A273 to allow road users to re-join the A23 at Pyecombe Interchange.A27 Offington Corner Roundabout ResurfacingThe first phase of work to resurface the Grove Lodge and Offington Corner Roundabouts and the carriageway between the roundabouts will start on Wednesday 22 February.The first phase will involve resurfacing Offington Corner Roundabout and the carriageway between the roundabouts, and is due to be carried out between Wednesday 22 February and Tuesday 28 February (between 8pm and 6am each night).There will be lane closures, temporary traffic lights and a local road closure. Access/egress to Goodwood Road from Offington Corner Roundabout will be closed and traffic diverted via Half Moon Lane.A2 Stuppington Lane Parapet ReplacementWork to replace the existing parapet on the Stuppington Lane bridge near Canterbury, Kent will start on Monday 20 February and continue until Friday 16 March.The work will be carried out during the daytime however the bridge will be closed for 24 hours a day for the duration of the scheme.In order for the work to be carried out safely, Stuppington Lane will be closed over the A2 for 24 hours a day throughout the duration of the work. Road users are advised to use a small local road diversion using Nackington Road bridge. Access will be maintained for pedestrians. No vehicular access will be allowed through the closure.A27 Drusillas Roundabout to Thornwell Road ResurfacingWork to resurface both carriageways of the A27 and replace road markings and road studs between Drusillas Roundabout at Berwick and Thornwell Road junction at Wilmington, East Sussex will take place between Wednesday 22 February and Sunday 4 March between 8pm and 6am each night.The work will be carried out with lane closures, temporary traffic lights and a 40mph speed limit in place. Road users will be escorted past the works at 10mph.A21 Tonbridge Bypass ResurfacingWork to resurface the A21 Tonbridge Bypass will take place from Wednesday 23 to Saturday 25 February between 8pm and 6am each night.There will be lane closures on the A21 with temporary traffic lights and a 40mph speed limit in place. Road users will be escorted past the works at 10mph using the other available lane.A2 Faulkners Lane bridge Expansion Joint ReplacementWork to remove and replace an expansion joint on the A2 Faulkners Lane bridge near Canterbury will begin on Monday 20 to Wednesday 22 February.Work will be carried out during the daytime, however due to safety reasons the bridge will be closed 24 hours a day for the duration of the work.While the bridge is closed, road users wishing to go north on the bridge will be diverted via Bigbury Road, onto Howfield Lane. They will then be directed onto the A28 Ashford Road northbound. They will carry on the A28 onto the A2050 Rheims WayLondonbound to rejoin Faulkners Lane where the diversion ends.Road users wishing to go south on the bridge will use this diversion route but in the opposite direction.Ends
