Police are appealing for witnesses following a robbery in Jarrow.
The incident happened at around 7.25pm on Saturday, January 31, at The Local, on Valley View, when a man entered the shop and threatened a member of staff with a knife before making off with a quantity of cash from the till.
The staff member was not hurt but shaken as a result of the incident.
The offender is described as 5ft 7ins tall and of medium build.
He was wearing a dark zip up hooded jacket and dark tracksuit bottoms.
Anyone who has any information about the incident is asked to contact police on 03456 043 043, extension 65046.
People can also ring the independent charity Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
