22 April 2010

Police in Newcastle are urging would-be computer buyers to be on the look out for a batch of stolen laptops.
Between 1pm and 3pm on Friday April 16, 15 brand new laptop computers were stolen from Central Newcastle High School on Sandyford Road.
An unknown person or persons got into the school and stole 15 Toshiba laptops each valued at £800 which had just been delivered.
DC Terry Egdell of Jesmond and Heaton CID team said: "We are investigating how the thief or thieves got into the room where the laptops were being stored and how they transported the laptops from the site.
"I would urge anyone who saw anything suspicious near to the school at the time of the thefts to contact detectives. I am also asking would-be computer buyers to be on the look out for the stolen laptops should they be offered them for sale. The serial numbers of the laptops all start SY903 followed by four more numbers and ending in the letter W."
Anyone with information about the theft should contact detectives in Jesmond and Heaton on 03456 043 043, ext. 69191, or call Crimestoppers on 0800 555111.
