Police investigating the death of a 28-year-old man in Ashington are re-appealing for witnesses after a murder investigation was launched.
Police were called to the Co-Op Store on The Square, Guidepost in Ashington at 10.45am on Sunday, November 7, following reports that a man had been injured.
He was taken by ambulance to Wansbeck Hospital but died shortly afterwards.
A post mortem carried out yesterday established the man died as a result of stab wounds.
Detective Chief Inspector Paul Young, who is leading the investigation, said: "I'm appealing to anyone who was in the area at the time to contact police. No matter how insignificant they think the information may be it all helps us to build a picture of what happened.
Two men arrested in connection with the incident remain in police custody and are helping police with their enquiries.
Anyone with any information should contact Northumbria Police on 03456 043 043. Or alternatively Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
