Between 30 and 40 student protesters gathered in Newcastle today during the Prime Minister's visit to the city's Centre for Life.
A 19 year-old man was arrested on suspicion of criminal damage after a police car sustained minor damage during the protest.
The man was issued with a fixed penalty notice and was released from police custody.
A Northumbria Police spokesman said: "Officers facilitated a peaceful protest which dispersed following the departure of the Prime Minister. There was one act of criminal damage during the protest and an arrest was made in relation to this.
"Northumbria Police respects the right to peaceful protest and will facilitate such events. However, action will be taken against anyone who engages in criminal behaviour."
