Blue Peter has bid a world record breaking farewell to BBC Television Centre today – by smashing the record for the Most People Dancing With Hula-Hoops in its final show from the iconic studios.
The programme, which will be broadcast from the BBC's new MediaCityUK home in Salford when its new series begins in the autumn, broke the record by gathering together 426 people in the TV Centre "doughnut".
The hula-hoop dance, which smashed the previous record that had stood at 342 people, lasted for two minutes and included CBBC stars such as Ed Petrie, Iain Stirling and Naomi Wilkinson, as well as current Blue Peter presenters Helen, Barney and Andy and former presenters Anthea Turner, Janet Ellis and Diane Louise Jordan.
Tim Levell, Editor of Blue Peter, said: "Blue Peter has had some amazing times at Television Centre and we were determined to mark the end of an era with a really special programme.
"It was amazing to gather so many people together and to add another world record to the Blue Peter portfolio!"
Viewers can watch the Blue Peter hula-hooping world record attempt on CBBC iPlayer.
