Weekly summary of roadworks in Bath, Bristol, Dorset, Gloucestershire, Somerset and Wiltshire

BristolM5 Junction 15As part of the work to deliver the M4 and M5 managed motorway scheme at the Almondsbury interchange, near Bristol, there will be further overnight closures of the M5 motorway, in one direction at a time, on weekday nights from 23 April to 1 May. The M5 motorway will be closed through junction 15, in one direction at a time, from 22.00 hrs to 06.00 hrs, while carriageway joint repairs and resurfacing work is carried out. The M5 northbound will be closed overnight on Monday 23 and Tuesday 24 April, with the M5 southbound closed overnight on Wednesday 25, Thursday 26, Friday 27 and Monday 30 April and again on Tuesday 1 May. Clearly signed diversion routes will be in place during the closures.M5 Junction 16 Northbound entry slip road and link road M5 North to M4 EastThe entry slip road at Junction 16 on the M5 Northbound Junction and the link road on the M5 North to M4 East will be closed for two nights on Thursday 19 and Friday 20 April. The closures will take place from 21.00 hrs on each evening to 06.00 hrs the following day.Traffic wanting to join the M5 Northbound at Junction 16 will be diverted South to Junction 17, u-turn and join the M5 Northbound carriageway at Junction 15.Traffic travelling North on the M5 wanting to join the M4 Eastbound will continue North to Junction 14, u-turn, return South to Junction 15 and join the M4 Eastbound carriageway at Junction 19. Clearly signed diversion routes will be in place during the closures.M4 Eastbound to M5 Southbound link road, M4 Westbound to M5 Northbound link road and M5 Southbound to junction 16 connectorThe link roads on the M4 Eastbound to M5 Southbound, M4 Westbound to M5 Northbound and the M5 Southbound to Junction 16 connector will be closed overnight for two nights on Saturday 21 and Sunday 22 April. The closures will take place from 21.00 hrs on each evening to 06.00 hrs the following day.Traffic travelling East on the M4 wanting to join the M5 Southbound will continue to Junction 20, u-turn, return West on the M4 and join the M5 Southbound carriageway at Junction 15.Traffic travelling West on the M4 wanting to join the M5 Northbound will continue to Junction 22, u-turn, return East on the M4 and join the M5 Northbound carriageway at Junction 15.Traffic travelling South on the M5 wanting to leave at Junction 16 will continue to Junction 17, u-turn and return North to exit at Junction 16. Clearly signed diversion routes will be in place during the closures.East DevonM5 Junction 28The exit slip road at Junction 28 of the M5 Northbound will be closed for widening between 16 and 23 April from 20.00 hrs to 06.00 hrs. Northbound traffic wishing to exit the M5 at junction 28 will be diverted to continue travelling to junction 27. Traffic will then turn and rejoin the M5 southbound to exit at the junction 28 southbound exit slip. M5 Junction 29Lane closures remain in place on the A30, M5 northbound off-slip and southbound off-slip at Junction 29 as work continues to upgrade the junction.Some lane restrictions are being removed or partially removed during the morning and evening rush hours to minimise delays as much as possible.The right turn from A30 westbound to M5 North also remains closed. Traffic is being diverted via Moor Lane Roundabout, back onto the eastbound carriageway of the A30 to continue northbound on the M5. Routes for cyclists and pedestrians are being maintained through the scheme, with some minor diversions.From 07 December, works to carry out construction activities including carriageway widening, surfacing, drainage, loop cutting and gantry erection works will require the overnight closure of: * the northbound exit slip road at M5 Junction 29;* the northbound entry slip road at M5 Junction 29;* the southbound entry slip road at M5 Junction 29.Only one slip road would be closed at a time. There would also be lane closures through the works.Gloucestershire A40 Trunk Road at Huntley Hill in the District of Forest of DeanWork on the A40 Trunk Road at Huntley Hill, west of Gloucester, will require a 40 miles per hour speed limit from a point 300 metres east of the centre of its junction with Hinders Lane to a point 300 metres west of the centre of its junction with Saunders Close. This measure would be in the interests of road safety until embankment stabilisation works and the installation of a permanent safety barrier can be carried out. It is expected that the speed limit would start on or after 21 April 2011 and last until the danger to the public has ended. M5 Motorway – Junction 13 to 14Work started on 16 April for six weeks to carry out embankment stabilisation works on the southbound carriageway. During this time there is narrow lane running with a 50mph speed restriction during the day and additional lane closures at night. SomersetNo planned roadworks.WiltshireA419 trunk road – Commonhead Roundabout, SwindonCarriageway surveying and general maintenance works will require the overnight closure of the southbound and northbound carriageways of the A419 Trunk Road between the respective exit and entry slip roads at the A4259 Commonhead Roundabout.It is expected that the works would take place for one night every six weeks between 19 December 2011 and 20 November 2012. - Ends -NOTES TO EDITORS 1.
