Police were called to the Clothing Barn shop on Park View, in Whitley Bay , North Tyneside at 3.25pm, Thursday, September 24 following reports of a robbery.
Two men entered the shop and threatened staff and demanded cash. They stole an undisclosed quantity of cash from the till and ran off towards Duke Street. No one was hurt during the incident but staff were shocked.
Police attended and a short time later two men aged 38, and 39, were arrested on suspicion of robbery. They are helping police with their enquiries.
Detective Inspector Neil Brotherton said: "I'm appealing for anyone who was in the area of Park View at the time of the robbery and may have seen or heard anything suspicious to contact police straightaway."
Police are appealing for witnesses anyone with information is asked to contact Northumbria Police on 03456 043 043 ext 63126 or ring the independent charity Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
