Police are appealing for information after a sexual assault in Ashington.
Between midnight and 00.15am on Monday, December 27, a woman in her 30s was walking through Hirst Park, in the area near St. Andrews Terrace, when she was approached by a man.
He made comments to her before punching her in the face and pushing her to the ground.
He then fled the scene taking her handbag.
Police are appealing for anyone who was in the area at the time and who may have any information to contact them on 03456 043 043 ext 69191.
DCI Colin Green, of Northumberland Area Command, said: "We are carrying out enquiries in the local area and speaking to those who live near to where the incident took place. We have stepped up patrols in the area where this happened and would appeal for anyone with any information to come forward and contact police".
