Theft of tools

Northumbria Police

31 October 2011

Police are reminding van drivers to remove valuables from their vehicles when they park up.  This follows the theft of tools from an unlocked parked van in North Shields
The incident happened overnight between 8pm on Sunday, October 30, and 5am on Monday, October 31. Thieves stole tools including a Paslode nail gun, Dewalt saw, Makita drill, Dewalt jigsaw and Trend tool.
Neighbourhood Inspector Geoff Cross said: "In many cases vehicle crime is the result of opportunist thefts.  If we remind people remove to valuables and keep their vehicles secure then this will lead to fewer thefts."
"We would ask the public to play their part by following crime prevention advice and help to protect their property."
Police are appealing for anyone who may be offered these items for sale to contact police, also anyone who has any information about this crime.
Anyone with information is asked to contact Northumbria Police on 03456 043 043 ext 69191 or ring the independent charity Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
