Highways Agency to undertake works on the A5 in Towcester

The work which will be undertaken overnight between the hours of 7pm and 6am is due to start on Monday 27 February and will be completed by 24 March. The work will also include renewal of road markings, studs and repairs to the footway just outside the town.During the works on the northbound and southbound carriageways, there will be 2-way lights in operation. Some overnight road closures will also be necessary. These will be from Heathencote crossroads to Towcester crossroads. Diversion routes will be clearly signposted.Jane Wilkins, Highways Agency project manager, said: "This essential work will improve driving conditions for motorists and pedestrians. The work has been carefully planned to keep disruption to a minimum but I would advise drivers to check conditions and leave extra time for their journeys if necessary.”Once complete, the works will not only prolong the life of the road but also improve road safety.For more information, motorists can contact the Highways Agency Information Line on 0300 123 5000.
