Pigeons stolen in Bedlington break-in

Northumbria Police

11 March 2010

Police in Bedlington are appealing for information after the theft of pigeons.
Between 12.30pm on Tuesday, March 9 and 9am on Wednesday, March 10 thieves have entered an allotment in Court Road, Bedlington, and stole 36 pigeons from a shed, before making off unseen.
Neighbourhood Inspector Ross Davidson said: "It appears that the thieves know about pigeons, they've specifically selected show pigeons and ignored the rest of the birds in the Cree. If anyone was in the area around Court Road on Tuesday afternoon or early evening, and saw anyone behaving suspiciously or who may have been carrying pigeon baskets then contact police with any information you have"
Anyone who was in the area at the time and who may have information into the theft is asked to contact police in Bedlington on 03456 043 043 ext 69191 or the independent charity Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
