Seven out of ten Brits are too tired for sex, a study revealed yesterday (Thurs).
Hectic social lives, busy work schedules and time spent running around after the kids leaves a huge percentage of adults too exhausted to enjoy intimate moments with their other half.
More than one in two people have turned down their partner's advances in the last month because they were worn out and one in five have said 'no' this week.
Two thirds of the 3,000 people polled admitted they only have time and energy to make love at the weekend when they don't have to get up the following morning.
Louise White, of Pharmaton Vitality Capsules, said: ''After a long day at work or looking after the family, it seems many Brits are tired of feeling tired and unable to do anything else but sleep once they crawl into bed.
''Instead of having some quality time with their other half beneath the sheets, it seems many would rather just catch up on their rest.''
The study of 3,000 Brits in relationships revealed not sleeping well was the most common reason, while long working hours was second.
Going to bed too late, children keeping them up and hectic social lives were other common factors in their low energy levels.
Researchers also found more than half of Brits will refuse to have sex if it is past a certain time at night, with just after 10pm the average cut off time for jumping into bed with their loved one.
A quarter will even refuse as early as 9pm.
It also emerged one in two Brits have ended up arguing about the lack of sex in their relationship, with 17 per cent even splitting up over it.
Six out of ten admitted they should 'make more of an effort' to find time to make love.
The study also revealed that turning down sex isn't the only symptom of tiredness with almost half snapping at someone just because they were drained.
Another 39 per cent said their tiredness lead to them forgetting something and another 38 per cent have cancelled a night out with friends because they were so sleepy.
Exhaustion is also causing Brits to make mistakes at work, burst into tears or even pull a sickie.
It also emerged the average adult feels mentally or physically drained for three days a week. More than seven per cent said they feel drained every day.
But to boost their energy levels, 40 per cent turn to tea or coffee, while 29 per cent try and take a nap.
Over a quarter do some exercise to wake themselves up while another 21 per cent rely on chocolate to get them through it.
Top five reasons for being too tired for sex
1. Not getting quality sleep
2. Long working hours
3. Partner comes to bed too late
4. Children wake us up early/keep us up late
5. Busy social lives
