Brits dream of living in a country which has Australia's climate, Italy's cuisine and an American nightlife, a study revealed yesterday (Sun).
Their ideal world would also include the relaxed culture of Spanish life, the art scene of Italy and people as friendly as the Americans.
The only part of Britain which those polled said they'd like to take with them was our architecture.
The study was carried out in the wake of an official report which revealed as many as 165,000 British citizens quit these shores in search of a better life in 2008.
A spokesman for Michelin Green Guides, which carried out the research among 5,000 adults, said: ''The study shows if we had our ideal place to live, we would opt for a mix of cultures and climates.
''The findings show just how cosmopolitan we have become and this is down to travelling more than ever before - not just in Europe but worldwide too.
''We have designed our tourist guides to help the most adventurous travellers get to the heart of their destination.
''The guides offer practical information on when to visit a country as well as suggested tours and the best places to eat, drink and explore.''
The study found climate was the most important consideration for those who dreamed of making a new life abroad.
Cuisine was voted second most important, with almost a third opting for Mediterranean-style pizza and pasta dishes.
The dream destination also included a coastline as rugged and eye-catching as New Zealand's and the transport infrastructure of the USA.
Great Britain's classic architecture, such as St Paul's Cathedral or the Tower of London were hailed as things people would like to take with them.
The women polled said they would like the men to be Italian looking while most men polled said they'd prefer to be surrounded by Swedish ladies.
Spanish was the language people preferred - even though most were not currently able to speak it.
The poll also revealed Brits think Sweden is the sexiest nation in the world while the French have the best sense of style.
Germany was hailed as the world's rudest country.
