Shamed Fern Britton has lost her crown as Britain's Favourite Fat person, according to a new survey.
Pipped to the post by larger than life comedian Dawn French, Fern has lost the votes of thousands after shedding the pounds with the help of a gastric band.
Despite remaining one of the nation's best loved television personalities, the presenter has relinquished her title after apparently lying about her weight loss.
But bubbly comedian Dawn French, the larger half of popular double act 'French and Saunders', appears to embrace her love of chocolate and is proud of her fuller figure.
John Sewell, spokesman for global research company www.onepoll.com said: ''The majority of folk across Britain have always had a fondness for Fern, and this was only emphasised by her size.
''And although most can understand why she chose to have a gastric band fitted, some people feel let down that she appeared to be comfortable being a size 22 and then dropped five dress sizes.
''That, combined with the fact she claimed to have lost the weight by exercising hard and eating less, rather than as a direct result of having a gastric band, have all contributed to the nation turning their attentions to Dawn.''
The poll OF 2,500 people revealed funny man Peter Kay as the nation's third favourite fattie.
More 'cuddly' than fat, the well loved comedian shot to fame with 'Peter Kay's Phoenix Nights', the BAFTA nominated British sitcom which first appeared on TV in 2001.
Fourth place in the poll goes to the saviour of Radio One Chris Moyles. The self confessed ''roly poly DJ'' is renowned for going out on the lash and eating curries for dinner.
And current star of sitcom 'Benidorm' Johnny Vegas appears at number five, although the comedian has apparently started losing weight after suffering from gout.
